New York State Police seized more than a pound of cocaine during a traffic stop on the New York State Thruway, the agency announced Thursday.

The stop was made by Troop T, the State Police division responsible for Thruway patrol across the state. As of the News 12 Hudson Valley report published November 6, police had not released the specific location on the highway, the name of any person stopped, or the charges sought.

The Thruway spans the length of New York and handles a substantial volume of commercial and passenger traffic. Those conditions make it a consistent corridor for drug-interdiction operations statewide. Troop T covers the highway's full extent, giving the division broad enforcement reach across a route that links the state's major regions.

State Police did not provide additional details in the initial announcement.
