AOC, Ryan, Natalie Merchant Headline Poughkeepsie Rally Sunday, the Last Day You Can Vote Early

Sunday is a double-header for Hudson Valley Democrats. The final day of early voting in Dutchess County runs 9 AM to 5 PM at seven sites across the county. Then, hours later, Representative Pat Ryan brings a get-out-the-vote rally to the Bardavon 1869 Opera House in Poughkeepsie, headlined by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and featuring live performances by Natalie Merchant and the Felice Brothers.

The event is called the Get Out the Vote Hudson Valley Rally. Doors open at 5 PM, and the program runs from 6 to 8 PM at the Bardavon, 35 Market Street, Poughkeepsie.

Two days after the rally, Election Day arrives on Tuesday, November 3.

The Lineup

Representative Pat Ryan, who is seeking reelection in New York's 18th Congressional District against Republican challenger Jackie Auringer, announced the event.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who represents New York's 14th Congressional District covering parts of the Bronx and Queens, is the event's headliner. As 94.3 Lite FM reported, Ocasio-Cortez has been traveling the country campaigning for fellow Democrats ahead of the November 3 midterms.

The elected officials joining the program include State Senator Michelle Hinchey, Assemblymember Sarahana Shrestha, and Dutchess County Legislator Lisa Kaul. Kaul is the Democratic candidate challenging Republican incumbent Senator Rob Rolison in State Senate District 39, a contest that organizers describe as the most competitive State Senate race in New York.

The musical portion of the evening features two artists described by Lite FM as Hudson Valley musicians. Natalie Merchant and the Felice Brothers are both on the program. The organizers' Mobilize listing confirms the performances: "The event will feature performances by The Felice Brothers and Natalie Merchant."

How to Get a Seat: Read This Before You Go

This is a campaign and organizer-run event, administered by the New York State Democratic Committee through a Mobilize registration page. It is not a Bardavon box-office event, and the Bardavon's own events calendar carries no listing for it. Do not go looking for tickets through the venue or any ticket seller. The only verified path to admission is through the organizers' Mobilize registration page.

Registration alone does not get you in.

The organizers' listing is direct about the mechanics: "Due to limited venue capacity, pre-registration is required but does not guarantee admission. Admission will be on a first come first serve basis with additional overflow space provided." Lite FM's account of the same policy matches in substance: preregistration is required, but signing up does not guarantee admission, and entry will be first-come, first-served due to limited capacity, with overflow space available.

The practical read: register now, then show up early. The doors open at 5 PM, which gives you a window before the 6 PM program start. The earlier you arrive, the better your chances of getting inside the main hall. Overflow space will be provided for those who do not make the capacity cut.

Accessibility accommodations at the event include accessible restrooms, mainly flat ground, no stairs or steps, dedicated seating, wide doorways and walkways, a wheelchair ramp, and dedicated parking spots. The organizers note that accessibility questions can be directed by reply to the registration confirmation email.

To register, visit the event page at the New York State Democratic Committee's Mobilize site. Lite FM also directs readers to register through what it describes as the official rally website, which links to that same Mobilize page.

Ryan's Announcement and What Organizers Are Saying

Ryan announced the rally on social media. His campaign's wording, as reported by Lite FM: "Up and down the ballot, the blue wave starts in the Hudson Valley."

The organizers' own Mobilize invitation text frames the evening as a push across multiple races: "You're invited to a Get Out the Vote Hudson Valley Rally with Pat Ryan and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Join them THIS SUNDAY to get out the vote for critical races up and down the ballot, including Michelle Hinchey, Sarahana Shrestha, and Lisa Kaul..."

The emphasis on Kaul's race is notable. Organizers describe her contest against Rolison in State Senate District 39 as the most competitive State Senate race in New York. Lite FM renders it the same way: "Organizers are describing Kaul's contest as the most competitive State Senate race in New York." That characterization belongs to the event organizers, and this report attributes it as such.

Sunday Is Also the Last Day to Vote Early

The rally falls on a day with its own separate urgency for any Dutchess County voter who has not yet cast a ballot.

Sunday, November 1 is the final day of in-person early voting for the 2026 general election in Dutchess County. The Dutchess County Board of Elections has all seven early voting sites open from 9 AM to 5 PM. After Sunday closes, early voting is done. The Board of Elections states plainly on its early-voting page: "In-person early voting is not available on November 2 (the day before the Election Day)." A voter who does not cast a ballot Sunday waits for Election Day, Tuesday, November 3.

One convenience: any Dutchess County voter can use any of the seven sites, regardless of where they are registered. The Board of Elections notes that a voter's usual Election Day polling place is likely closed for early voting, so voters should plan accordingly.

The seven early voting sites open Sunday are:

  • Pavilion at Brookmeade, 34 Brookmeade Drive, Rhinebeck
  • Fishkill Town Hall, 807 Route 52, Fishkill
  • Boardman Road Library, 141 Boardman Road, Poughkeepsie
  • Cornell Cooperative Extension, 2715 Route 44, Millbrook
  • Mid-Hudson Library Auditorium, 105 Market Street, Poughkeepsie
  • Board of Elections Training Center, 4280 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park
  • Wappinger Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls

One of those sites, the Mid-Hudson Library Auditorium at 105 Market Street, is on the same street as the Bardavon at 35 Market Street. A voter who uses that site before the 5 PM close is a short walk from the rally's door opening at the same hour.

The Dutchess County Board of Elections can be reached at 845-486-2473 or dutchesselections@dutchessny.gov. The office is at 112 Delafield Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

What Else Is on the Ballot

The rally's purpose is explicit: turning out votes for Democratic candidates in races organizers have flagged as critical. Beyond the congressional contest in NY-18 and the Senate District 39 race between Kaul and Rolison, the program includes State Senator Michelle Hinchey and Assemblymember Sarahana Shrestha, both of whom face their own races on Tuesday's ballot.

Dutchess County voters will see a full ballot on November 3 that reaches from federal offices down to state legislature seats and local contests. The presence of a congressional incumbent, a state senator, an assemblymember, and a county legislator all on the same stage Sunday reflects how organizers view the moment: a concentrated push across multiple levels of government in the two days remaining before polls open for Election Day.

Ryan's line, announcing the event, put it in the broadest possible frame: the races are, in his campaign's words, up and down the ballot.

Your Sunday Checklist

For readers trying to fit both parts of Sunday into one day: early voting closes at 5 PM, and the rally doors open at 5 PM. There is no gap. If you are voting at the Mid-Hudson Library Auditorium site on Market Street, you could move directly from one to the other. At every other site, allow drive time.

If you have already voted or plan to vote on Election Day, the timeline is simpler: arrive at 35 Market Street before or at 5 PM to be in the best position for first-come, first-served admission. The program runs from 6 to 8 PM.

Register before you go. No registration, no entry. Registration does not guarantee a seat in the main hall, but arriving without one closes the door entirely.
